The Glen Oaks Community College Laddered Associate of Science in Nursing Degree Program will begin classes every Spring semester. In addition to meeting the general requirements of the College for admission, there are requirements pertinent to each level. Click for Level I or Level II. 1. Does Glen Oaks have a waiting list?
- No, we have a testing-in procedure that we follow for admission into the program.
2. What is the testing procedure and what is the test?
- The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is administered via the internet from ATI testing. A study book can be purchased in the Glen Oaks bookstore or online at atitesting.com. Success rates for students using the test book have been high. The procedure is basic, with the top 40 students getting into the program. Entrance ranking score formula consists of the following:
TEAS test score = 75%
GPA of Prerequisites = 25%
3. Will my classes transfer from other colleges?
- Level I applicants: previous nursing courses will not transfer. All equivalency (pre-requisite) courses with a 2.5 GPA or better are transferable for the Glen Oaks Nursing Program. You must transfer them officially, from your institution to ours through the mail, and you must ask for them to be evaluated for nursing.
4. Is the program full or part time, night or day?
- At this point in time we have only a full time program and it is a daytime program only.
5. Is Financial Aid available?
- Yes it is, contact the Financial Aid Office at Glen Oaks.
6. How do I apply to the Nursing Program?
- You must interview with the Director of Nursing (DON) for help with your plan for entering the program and submit your nursing application at that time, to the DON ONLY!!!!!! This is very important so you will receive the MOST current information on changes which have or may be taking place in the program
7. If I am not currently a Glen Oaks Student, How do I keep updated on information I need to
come into the program?
- Information meetings are held a few times a year, which are the easiest way for you to get information. Dates and times for these meetings will be posted when they are set on the nursing office calendar. You MUST also meet with the DON before you apply. Visit the website regularly for updates and requirement information.
8. If I don't qualify when I test, does my application get moved automatically to the next year,
and will my test score be re-usable the next year or do I need to test again?
- You must re-submit an application to be considered and yes, you can keep your test score or retake the test to attempt a higher score...with the most recent test score being used to determine eligibility. Test scores can only be used within a year from the original test date.
