JOB DESCRIPTION

THE ACADEMIC AREA

The Allied Health area at Glen Oaks Community College offers a wide range of courses. In addition to traditional classroom/lab environments, the college provides online offerings, and faculty members are encouraged to design new delivery modes and explore innovative pedagogical methods.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree and a background in the medical office environment.   Must be credentialed in medical assisting and coding/billing/electronic records by a credentialing organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).  Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ability/disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Credentials in Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and/or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Office based (CCS-P), CNA, LPN/RN.  Experience in community college teaching, an understanding of the community college students and the mission of a comprehensive community college; teaching experience with web-based technologies, and ability and background to teach a variety of challenging and diverse courses.
