2009-2010 Recruits

Ypsilanti High School standouts Brittany Williams, Domonique Jones and Head Coach Damian Smith are all smiles as they sign there Letter of Intent!

April  17, 2009 - Lady Vikings Sign Two!

Two outstanding student athletes signed letter of intents today to attend Glen Oaks Community College. Domonique Jones and Brittany Williams both from Ypsilanti High School (Ypsilanti, Michigan) will compete for the Lady Vikings during the 2009-2010 season.

Brittany is a 5’7 guard who will help lead the Lady Vikings from the Point Guard position.

Brittany averaged 5.2 ppg, 6.6 ast, 3.2 rbs, 2.2 stls and shot 50% from the 3pt line last season.  Brittany also earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors for the 2008-2009 season. “Brittany is a very talented player”, Said her new coach Damian Smith. “She is one of the hardest working players I recruited this year.  Her quickness and defensive ability will be a great attribute to add to our team along with what she brings from an offensive standpoint.   Brittany’s up tempo style of play fits in to what we want to do here at Glen Oaks.  She has a tremendous upside and it will be fun to watch her grow while at Glen Oaks”.

Domonique is a 5’10 guard/forward who will be utilized at multiple positions this upcoming season. Domonique had a very successful high school career which led her to being recruited by Division 1 and Division 2 schools.  Domonique averaged 19.1 ppg, 7.2 rbs, 4.4 ast, 3.2stls last season.  Her post-season honors included;  1st team All-Conference, 1st team All-Area and Associated Press Class A Honorable Mention All-State for the 2008-2009 season. “Domonique is a very special player”, said Coach Smith.  “She can play multiple positions. Her size and length makes her such a tough matchup for defenders with her ability to not only score but rebound the basketball and be active on the defensive end.  She gets a lot of notice for her scoring ability but, she has a good understanding on how to read defenses and get her teammates involved.  I believe if she continues to work hard and improve her overall game, Domonique has the chance to a very, very good player for us”.
