Upward Bound Pledge and Commitment

Upward Bound Pledge

The Upward Bound pledge at Glen Oaks Community College is based on the following beliefs:

  • I will treat others as I want others to treat me.
  • I will begin each day with expectations of having a wonderful day.
My hard work and success will go hand in hand.
  • I will live for today and prepare for my future.
  • I will control my destiny.
  • I will use every activity as an opportunity to learn something new.
  • I am making a commitment to lifelong learning.
  • I will develop a plan that will help me be the best person I can be.

The Upward Bound Program was established by Congress in 1965 to prepare students for higher education. Currently, Upward Bound is offered by nearly 700 U.S. institutions. Several of these institutions are located in Michigan.
