Background Information
I graduated from the University of Georgia (UGA) with a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Spanish Education, from the University of Southern California (USC) with a Master's degree in Education and an emphasis in counseling, and from Western Michigan University (WMU) with a Master of Arts in Postsecondary Education Administration. I have been employed in various positions at Glen Oaks Community College (GOCC) since 1989 as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
Areas of Interest
Advising
I am especially interested in helping students plan individual class schedules to insure course and program completion and, if appropriate, transferability to a university.
Career Choice
Utilizing the Myers Briggs Personality database we can discover your career interests. Many paths are possible; let's talk about selecting and implementing the one that you prefer.
I believe that everyone can learn to navigate college and career choice. I can teach you how to steer your own course. I can help you accept responsibility for the choices you make, and teach you how to make new choices if necessary. I am committed to your future. Education can change your life.
VA Counseling
In order to be certified for Veteran's benefits, veteran's meet with a counselor each semester. At the end of that meeting, veterans complete a VA Certification

Career Testing
One of the ways that I can help is career choice. Click
here to go to the Myers-Briggs (MBTI) career test information page. You will need a username and password for MBTI. Please email Cheryl Hayden, Career Counselor. This is a test you can't fail! It is also free! Please follow the instructions on the information page to go to the test site and take the test. Please note: when you finish, your results are sent to me. In order for them to be interpreted, you will need a personal appointment with me at your convenience.
Please use the email link at the top of the page to schedule an appointment. Good luck with your assessment. Have fun, and remember, when in doubt about an answer, always think about how you would react at work.
