We made the news!
First of all, Bill and I would like to thank the entire Glen Oaks family for all of the help while we were being just a little crazy. Insanity loves company, and Bill and I are always out to enjoy life. However, we could never do all the things we do without the support of the family at Glen Oaks from one end of the building to the other. We want to say THANK YOU for all the help and support we received in another quest to have fun. It was amazing to meet people from the community who just came up and talked to us. They were reading about what we were doing and thought it sounded like fun to come out to the college. Dave and Sharon Smith stopped by and Dick Cripe brought out his grandchildren. Sue Readon drove out to the college to see this event and so did several former students. This event brought our community together to be a little silly and have some fun too. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR ALL THE SUPPORT!!!

Glen Oaks students to try for World’s Largest Meatball
Glen Oaks Community College may become known around the world if plans for a 350 pound cooked meatball are achieved. Students, faculty and staff plan to cook the record-breaking meatball on Monday, March 15 at the campus.
Members of the Recreation/Student Activities and Student Government organizations, along with a host of volunteers including business and science professors, will cook the 350 pound meatball on the first day back from Spring Break. "After completing the record-breaking process, we will then feed up to 800 people from the county a meatball sandwich, salad, and a beverage for free," explained Bill Furr, Professor of Business.
Furr said the current world record in the Guinness World Book of Records is 222.5 pounds, an achievement held by Nonni’s Italian Eatery of New Hampshire. Nonni’s broke the record of 198.6 pounds created on Jimmy Kimmel.

Here is a World Record Meatball attempt update:
Glen Oaks Community College students, faculty, staff and interested citizens setting out Monday, March 15 to break the Guinness Book of World Records "Largest Meatball" ever cooked have received some unexpected help from a local source.
Nottawa Gas Company, located on M-66 near the Centreville campus, has donated an extremely large cooker and all the free propane gas needed to prepare the 350 pound meatball. The college has also ordered a large Wok bowl for cooking from New York; and established a method of sealing the giant meatball and draining off grease as it cooks. "We've also got lots of people lined up to help with the 4 p.m. free meal of a meatball sandwich, salad and beverage," said Leanna Tokarski, a Three Rivers medical assisting student and Student Government leader.
The entire attempt at breaking the World's Largest Cooked Meatball will be filmed and documented for the Guiness World Book of Records. The record is currently held by a New Hampshire restaurant with a 222.5 pound meatball. "We can do this," said a confident Professor of Business Dr. Lester Keith.
