2010-2011 President’s Award recipient

Glen Oaks Community College President Dr. Gary Wheeler announced the 2010-2011 President’s Award recipient at May 13 graduation ceremonies. Leanna Tokarski, of Three Rivers, received the award based on her outstanding academic and student achievement while at GOCC. Leanna graduated Summa Cum Laude (3.75-4.00 grade point average) with an Associate of Applied Science in Allied Health Degree and a Medical Assistant Certificate. While attending Glen Oaks, Leanna worked part-time, became a trained student tutor and was “very active” as a member and leader of several campus organizations including Phi Theta Kappa, Student Government, Music Club and Medical Assistant Club. She was named to Who’s Who Among America’s Junior College Students. As she accepted her award, Leanna said, “I owe much of this award to my mother. She told me I should become involved and encouraged me to join Student Government. Once I got involved I found myself joining more organizations at Glen Oaks and enjoying the new friends I was making…”
