College Closing Policy
When inclement weather or an emergency warrants the possibility of closing day and/or evening classes at Glen Oaks Community College, the president consults with the Director of Buildings and Grounds, Dean of the College, local law enforcement and arrives at a decision on whether or not to begin classes later in the day or cancel school.
Notification of the decision is generally made by 6:30 a.m. over area radio stations, television stations WWMT (3) and WOOD (8) and placed on the college website. It is often difficult to get an accurate report on the weather conditions overall. In the final analysis, students should use their best judgment regarding driving to campus.
