Glen Oaks Nursing Division
Information for prospective and current students:
Glen Oaks Community College offers a Laddered Associate of Applied Science in Nursing Degree Program. The Laddered program consists of Level I (Practical Nurse Program) and Level II (Registered Nurse Program). The course sequences for both Level I and Level II may be found in the Packet material.
The Laddered program is designed to provide for the educational needs of students with varying backgrounds, capabilities, ambitions and career intentions. This design also facilitates preparation of nursing students with differing competencies to meet the variety of employment needs within the surrounding community.
Graduates of Level I are awarded a Practical Nurse Certificate and are eligible to apply for LPN Licensure. Students may exit the program after completing Level I and return if they meet readmission criteria. Students progressing in a continuous sequence to Level II must meet continuation requirements. Currently licensed practical nurses that were educated at other institutions may enter Level II. LPNs must meet nursing program admission criteria and have the prerequisites needed for required courses in the curriculum.
Glen Oaks Nursing Program
The Glen Oaks Community College Laddered Associate of Science in Nursing Degree Program will begin classes every Spring semester. In addition to meeting the general requirements of the College for admission, there are requirements pertinent to each level. After acceptance into the program, documentation of having met health guidelines must be submitted and remain current for the duration of the program.
