Glen Oaks Foundation Scholarships

The GOCC Foundation has many different scholarship possibilities available for Glen Oaks students. Each scholarship listed below is broken down by category. Please visit the scholarship page(s) you may be interested in to get a full description of the scholarship as well as any additional criteria that must be met.

All Glen Oaks Community College Foundation Scholarships can be used for education related expenses and consider academic ability, financial circumstances and career goals in the selection of the recipients.

Foundation Scholarships

Joslin Memorial Art Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Maintain full time student status
  • Art major
  • First year students will be eligible directly out of high school

 

♦ Athletic ♦

Foundation Scholarships

Jim Bishop Memorial Athletic Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Students must pursue an Associate Degree or Certificate
  • Students must have and maintain a G.P.A. of 2.5
  • Students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours
  • Returning students must be a member in good standing of their respective sport as determined by the Head Coach and Athletic Director

 

Kenneth C. Schuler Memorial Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Students must pursue an Associate Degree or Certificate
  • Students must have and maintain a GPA of 2.5
  • Students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours, otherwise attach statement of condition
  • Returning students must be a member in good standing as determined by the Athletic Director

 

Paul P. Clark Golf Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • Students must pursue an Associate Degree or Certificate Program
  • Students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours or more
  • New students must have a 2.5 G.P.A. minimum in high school
  • Returning students must be a member in good standing of the Glen Oaks CC golf team as determined by the Head Coach and Athletic Director
  • Returning GOCC students must have a 2.50 G.P.A.
  • Must be a St. Joseph County resident

Century Bank and Trust Business Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Student pursuing a business or financial career
  • Business or finance major
  • Students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more)

 

Dr. George R. Hoekzema Business Studies Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Students must pursue an Associate of Business Degree
  • Students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours or more
  • New students must have a 2.50 G.P.A. minimum in high school
  • Returning GOCC students must have a 2.50 G.P.A.
  • Must be a St. Joseph County resident

 

Farmers State Bank Business Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • Student pursuing a business career
  • Business, finance major
  • Students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more)
  • Must be St. Joseph County, Michigan resident

 

Richard M. Bell Banking Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Student pursuing a business or financial career
  • Business, finance, or banking major
  • Students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more)

 

Southern Michigan Bank & Trust Business Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Student pursuing a business or financial career
  • Business or finance major
  • Students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more)

 

Sturgis Bank and Trust Business Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Student pursuing a business or financial career
  • Business major
  • Students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more)
  • Must have a 2.5 GPA

Big Sister Fund

Dr. David H. & Patricia A. Devier Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Any incoming or continuing Glen Oaks student attending full-time.

 

Elmer Black Community Leadership Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • High school graduate or equivalent with a minimum g.p.a. of 3.00
  • At least ½ -time (min. 6 credit hours) enrollment status in college
  • Glen Oaks Community College in-district resident
  • May be either a first-year student or second-year student

 

Ernest R. Graham Memorial Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Students pursuing a degree or certificate in business or technical career
  • Students enrolled minimum part-time (6 credit hours or more)
  • Minimum GPA of 1.5

 

Freiburger-Keller Families Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Student pursuing a certificate or degree
  • Students must be enrolled for at least a minimum of 6 credit hours
  • In district St. Joseph County and service area residents

 

Gary and Susan Wheeler Leadership Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • High school graduate or equivalent with a minimum g.p.a. of 3.00
  • Full-time enrollment status in college
  • Glen Oaks Community College district or service area resident
  • May be either a first-year student or second-year student

 

Glen Oaks Community College Foundation Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled in a program for a degree or certificate at Glen Oaks Community College
  • Students must be enrolled for at least 6 credit hours or more
  • Must be in good academic standing, with a minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Must be from the GOCC service area or St. Joseph County

 

Gray Brothers Stamping & Machine Scholarship Fund *

Eligibility:

  • First consideration will be given to employees and their dependents.
  • Second consideration will be given to former employees and their dependents

 

Helen Jeanneret Augspurger Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Must be a top student in the Sturgis High School graduating class who attends Glen Oaks Community College
  • Students must be enrolled for at least 12 credit hours or more
  • Financial need may be a consideration if there is more than one qualified applicant

 

Indiana Michigan Power Scholars Endowment *

Eligibility:

  • Students must be enrolled for at least 6 credit hours or more
  • Be employed full or part time, at the time of application or have a history of entry-level employment
  • Financial need may be a consideration if there is more than one qualified applicant
  • Student must be enrolled in a degree or certificate program in a technical field of study, i.e.: Associates of Applied Science in Technology, Automotive Technician Certificate, Drafting and Design Certificate, Electronics Certificate, Machine Tool Technology Certificate

 

Jessie Alice Ray General Studies Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Students must pursue an Associate General Studies Degree or an Associate of Science Degree
  • Students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours or more
  • New students must have a 2.5 G.P.A. minimum in high school
  • Returning GOCC students must have a 2.50 G.P.A.
  • Must be a St. Joseph County resident

 

LTI Printing Scholarship Program *

Eligibility:

  • As described above (Relationship to employee based on IRS deductibility)
  • Student may be enrolled full or part time
  • FAFSA application is not required.

 

Mitchell Baker General Studies Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Students must pursue an Associate General Studies Degree or an Associate of Science Degree
  • Students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours or more
  • New students must have a 2.5 G.P.A. minimum in high school
  • Returning GOCC students must have a 2.50 G.P.A.
  • Must be a St. Joseph County resident

 

Senator Harry Gast Leadership Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Be a high school graduate or equivalent with a minimum g.p.a. of 3.00
  • Maintain full time student status and a 3.00 g.p.a.
  • Glen Oaks Community College District or service area resident
  • First year students will be eligible directly out of high school

Foundation Scholarships

Alice & George F. Field Nursing Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Acceptance into Level I and/or Level II of the Nursing Program
  • Must be enrolled a minimum of 6 credit hours while receiving this award
  • Maintain overall 3.0 GPA while receiving this scholarship
  • First year students will be eligible directly out of high school, if dual enrolled and they meet Nursing Program prerequisites

 

Dr. Philip G. & Isabel P. Ward / MacMillan Scholarship *

Eligibility:

For a Nursing Applicant:

  • Acceptance into either Level I or Level II of the nursing Program
  • Students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more)
  • Financial need may be a consideration if there is more than one qualified applicant

For an Education Applicant:

  • Students must intend to major in education
  • Students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more)
  • Students must pursue an Associate Arts/Science/General Study Degree
  • Have and maintain a 3.00 G.P.A.

 

Jaffe (Fredrica, Neva, & Abraham) Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Any Nursing student, level I & II
  • Students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more)

 

Mary A. Hoffine Nursing Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Maintain full time student status
  • Nursing major
  • Maintain overall 2.5 g.p.a.
  • First year students will be eligible directly out of high school, if dual enrolled and they meet Nursing Program prerequisites

 

Howard & Betty Lambertson Medical Studies Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Must be accepted into a Medical Studies Program as described above
  • Maintain full time or part-time student status
  • Medical studies program pursuit
  • Maintain overall 2.75 g.p.a.
  • First year students will be eligible directly out of high school, if dual enrolled and they meet all program prerequisites

 

Runyan Nursing Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Maintain full time student status
  • Nursing major
  • First year students will be eligible directly out of high school, if dual enrolled and they meet Nursing Program prerequisites

 

Dennis & Sharon Baker Nursing Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Must be accepted into a Nursing Program as described above
  • Maintain full or part-time time student status
  • Nursing major
  • Maintain overall 2.75 g.p.a.
  • First year students will be eligible directly out of high school, if dual enrolled

Donald & Eloise Wiedenbeck Nursing Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Must be accepted into a Nursing Program as described above

  • Studies must be in the Health Occupations
  • Maintain full or part-time time student status

Eligibility:

  • Students enrolled in a Human Services program of study
  • Students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more)

Eligibility:

  • Students must intend to major in education (any level-elementary secondary, etc.).
  • Students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more).
  • Students must pursue an Associate Arts/Science/General Study degree.
  • Students must intend to go into the teaching field.
  • New students must have a minimum of a 3.0 G.P.A. in high school.
  • Students must be able to complete the written portion of the Accuplacer Assessment at level 6 or greater.
  • Returning GOCC students must have a 3.25 G.P.A.
  • Must be a St. Joseph County resident.

 

Kenneth “Ken” R. Nelson Scholarship *

Eligibility:

For a General Studies Applicant:

  • Students must pursue an Associate of Arts, Science or General Studies Degree
  • Students must have a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 2.5
  • Students completing high school must have a recommendation letter from their high school principal
  • Students must be enrolled full-time in at least 12 college credit hours

For a Nursing Applicant:

  • Accepted and enrolled into either Level I or Level II of the nursing program
  • Students must have a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0
  • First year students will be eligible directly out of high school, if dual enrolled and they meet the nursing program prerequisites.

Donis Armstrong “A Step Up to the Sciences” Scholarship *

Eligibility:

  • Student pursuing a science degree or career in the sciences
  • Science major
  • Students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more)

 

Professor Emeritus David Gosling Memorial Scholarship Fund

Eligibility:

  • Second year student pursuing a science degree or career in the sciences that plans to transfer to a four year institution. Preference will be given to applicants seeking a career in education.
  • Students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more)
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA.
