Matt Weiderman

Head Softball Coach

Matt Weiderman is taking over the reigns as the Glen Oaks Head Softball Coach in 2023. Matt has been the Vikings Pitching Coach the past three years and has done an excellent job in pulling this talented group of ladies together as they prepare for the upcoming season!

And, excellence is the term that best describes coach Weiderman’s goals for his team members. “Excellence is what we strive for in everything we do so that we can experience the possibilities of who we can become. That includes who we can be in the classroom, what impact we can make on our teammates and on our friends around the campus, what level we can play the game we love as a softball player, and what we can accomplish as a team here at Glen Oaks. At the end of their careers here at Glen Oaks, we want our ladies moving on and understanding what they are capable of, and have a desire to push those experiences to even bigger and better experiences.”

Coach Weiderman has been a student of the game for many years. A founding member of the “Pitching Coaches Collaboration,” Matt spends hundreds of hours a year working with this group of renowned fastpitch coaches from all over the country (from the highest levels of the game), on pitching development and the health and safety of their athletes. Matt is currently taking classes to become a “Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist” which will help him better identify inefficiencies in his athletes, which will allow him to set corrective plans in motion before an injury may occur.

Matt has used his expertise and experiences in the areas of analytics and health and safety over the past 12 years at all levels of the game, from Little League to the college level. He has been a Personal Pitching Instructor for girls all over Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan over the past five years, is a member of the NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association), and is certified at the Elite Level in the “Pauly girl Fastpitch” Program. Matt is also a member of the NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association).

Matt has owned and operated Weiderman Motorsports, an auto body paint and repair shop, for the past 15 years in Sturgis, Michigan. He is married to Jody, (a 3 rd grade teacher at Riverside in Constantine, Michigan) and has two daughters, Kiley (a former Glen Oaks Softball player – now a student and softball pitcher for Concordia University) and McKenna, a seventh grader at Sturgis Middle School.
