Dr. Ana Gaillat, Dean of the College, welcomed the students and visitors. The Glen Oaks Choir opened the evening with the Glen Oaks Alma Mater and “A Song Sung Once” by composer A.F. Bernon. William Furr, Professor of Business, presented the awards, including the Business Award. Jeanne Reed, Professor of Sociology, presented two John Ward Faculty Scholarships. Students, many of whom will graduate next week, distinguished themselves in a number of ways, according to two dozen faculty members who made the awards. The college choir ended the program with “Play for Me a Simple Melody,” an Irving Berlin arrangement by composer Kirby Shaw . Light refreshments were served on the Concourse.
The John Ward Faculty Scholarships this year went to Joel Eichorn, a Sturgis nursing student, and Monica Wirick-Wilds, a Three Rivers accounting and business student. The Business Department award was presented to Dawn Degregorio of Three Rivers. Dawn is a supervisor at American Axle & Manufacturing and is also on a fast track to complete studies this October for a Bachelor’s Degree in Business at Spring Arbor University.
