Elayek and Ray are named 2016 Kristy’s Kids Memorial Scholarship recipients at Glen Oaks

Congratulations to Jennifer Elayek and Abby Ray on receiving the Kristy’s Kids Memorial Scholarship for Winter, 2016. The Kristy’s Kids Memorial Scholarship program has been assisting Early Childhood Education students at Glen Oaks Community College through scholarships since its inception in 2002.

Elayek resides in White Pigeon, Michigan, and plans to transfer to Western Michigan University upon graduation from Glen Oaks where she will continue her study of elementary education. Elayek has spent the last 14 years in the banking industry moving from teller to management positions. She currently works out of her home in sales for PNC, based out of Kalamazoo. She has three children of her own.

Ray was born and raised in Mendon, Michigan, and is studying early childhood development. She expects to graduate next year and would like to start work at a daycare upon graduation. Eventually, she would like to start her own daycare business. Ray’s interests include art and music.

Kristy Isaac was a freshman enrolled in the Early Childhood Education associate degree program at Glen Oaks when she died in January, 2000, as a result of an automobile accident. Toby Isaac and her family established the scholarship program because her daughter, Kristy, a Sturgis High School graduate, loved children and planned a career working with pre-school age children. “This helps fulfill Kristy’s dream of helping children and their families,” said Toby Isaac at the time.
