Two local insurance agents, Jeff Brazo, Ayres Insurance, and Rodney Chupp, Chupp Insurance Agency, are challenging area businesses to offer their financial support for Glen Oaks Community College agricultural programs.

“The Agricultural programs are hands-on programs for students on the Glen Oaks campus, providing opportunities and experiences that students wouldn’t have at other campuses,” said Brazo. “The Agricultural Operations program is unique in that students can complete a MSU program right here in St. Joseph County, and the Agriculture Equipment Technology program, where students learn to work on farm equipment, is the only program of its kind in the state of Michigan. As a product of community college and MSU, and having a son in the GOCC Ag Mechanics program, I can attest to the effectiveness of this combination!”

“I have been fortunate to live my entire life in this beautiful area and in a wonderful community,” said Chupp. “There is no industry more important to this region than agriculture. I grew up participating in our local FFA program and working for my uncle on his farm.”

Chupp and Brazo created a local 4-H trust that benefits the local agricultural community by making a donation to the Glen Oaks Community College’s Agricultural program. Together, they have teamed up to challenge the community to support the program as well.

“Promoting these activities and preparing our current youth for the current and upcoming needs of our agricultural industry is vitally important to our community’s future,” said Chupp. “I would personally like to put out the challenge to other businesses and individuals who value our agricultural history, to consider making a contribution to support the Agricultural programs at Glen Oaks. We have a great school, and great new programs that speak to the heart of this community and wonderful people leading it. Let’s get behind it as a community and support it in any way we can.”

In addition to Chupp Insurance Agency and Ayres Insurance, the following businesses have contributed money and/or in-kind donations to the Glen Oaks Agricultural programs:
