Over 50 employers to participate in St. Joseph County Job Fair – Thursday, April 21, at Glen Oaks
Over 50 area employers will participate in the largest job fair in St. Joseph County on Thursday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Glen Oaks Community College. Jobseekers will have the opportunity to meet employer representatives to learn about and apply for positions that are currently open.
“We have over 50 employers registered for the event,” said Paul Aivars, director of business outreach and services for Glen Oaks Community College. “Businesses participating in the Job Fair either have current openings or anticipate openings. Employers may be planning on filling one position or multiple positions which may be full-time or part-time, and they could be permanent, temporary and/or seasonal.”
The event is made possible through a partnership between Michigan Works Southwest!, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and Glen Oaks Community College. It will take place in the gymnasium at 62249 Shimmel Rd., in Centreville, Mich., and is free and open to the public.
“This is a great opportunity for job seekers to connect with employers,” said Aivars. “The free event is held each spring and affords employers the opportunity to meet qualified, talented and diverse applicants.”
Pre-Job Fair Workshop
A Pre-Job Fair workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Apr. 19 in the Dresser Business Development Auditorium on the Glen Oaks Campus to help job seekers prepare for the job fair. Participants will receive tips for navigating the event and advice on developing a sales pitch in addition to fine tuning their soft skills.
The presenters, Benjamin Leverette and Fred Harvey, are from Michigan Works Southwest! Between them they have presented hundreds of workshops on workforce related content and have over 20 years of professional experience.
Each attendee will receive a $25 voucher for interview clothing that can be used at Goodwill, Salvation Army or Building Hope Store!
