Community is invited to Health and Education Career Fair – Tues., Feb. 22

Are you looking for a job in health care? Whether you are just beginning your path in the health care field or are already employed in health care and want to make a change, plan on attending the first annual Health and Education Career Fair on Tuesday, Feb. 22 on the campus of Glen Oaks Community College.

Over 20 employers along with a handful of colleges and universities will gather on the concourse from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the event.

“A lot of employers are struggling to fill health care positions,” said Sara Birch, associate dean of health science at Glen Oaks. “We wanted try and do our part to help them fill the need. We have about 50 first- and second-year nursing students and a couple dozen students in the allied health professions, about half this group will be graduating in May.”

“The response has been overwhelming,” said Birch. Representatives from area hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, and mental health centers, etc. will be participating.  Employers attending are from as far south as Fort Wayne, Indiana, all over St. Joseph County, Michigan, and up north to include facilities in Kalamazoo.”

The event puts employers in contact with not only Glen Oaks students, but those in the community who are looking to get into the health care field or who may wish to change into a different area of health care.

The list of employers and educational institutions who will be represented at the event can be found at: https://www.glenoaks.edu/business-industry/health-fair/. For more specific information, contact Sara Birch at GOCC at: (269) 294-4287 or sbirch226@glenoaks.edu.
