Worthington has taught at Glen Oaks for two years. The award included an engraved oak chair and a monetary prize presented during a faculty dinner held at A Place in Time banquet hall in Three Rivers. The annual award is funded with an endowment created by the late Eli J. Shaheen, a Sturgis businessman and former Board of Trustees member who valued quality education.
Worthington earned his Bachelor of Science at Trinity International University and two Master of Arts degrees at North Central University and Western Michigan University.
Speaking before the dinner crowd, Worthington said he appreciated being the recipient of the award, “Coming to Glen Oaks Community College to teach was probably the best decision I ever made. It is so much fun to be surrounded by people who love their jobs. People at GOCC are friendly, happy and genuinely interested. I love teaching my students and I can truly say that I have not dreaded coming to work one day these past two years.”
