Glen Oaks Community College will induct alumna Kathy Bingaman into its Arts Hall of Fame during the opening of her solo exhibition, “ART-iquities: Old and New Entwined,” from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12.
The free public event will be held in the Flora Kirsch Beck Gallery on the Grand Concourse at Glen Oaks Community College, 62249 Shimmel Road.
Bingaman, a 1981 Glen Oaks graduate, studied under Harvey Gordon before launching her career as an artist and businesswoman. The college honored her with its Distinguished Alumni Award in 2005. Her work has gained recognition in Michigan and southern Florida, where she spends winters.
Her latest collection combines antiquity themes with contemporary artistic approaches, creating what Bingaman calls “a dialogue between past and present.”
The exhibit runs through December 19 and is open Monday through Thursday from noon to 3 p.m. This showcase provides a unique opportunity to appreciate Bingaman’s work and honor her lasting contributions to the arts and the Glen Oaks community.
