“We expect the large majority of testing, at least in the beginning, to be for the General Education Degree (GED), which is a measure of high school equivalency,” said Bill Hubbard, director of the Testing and Tutoring Center at the college.
Pearson VUE offers the opportunity for people to take tests to earn credentials in information technology, medicine, education, food safety, finance, banking and many other professions.
“In order to become an approved testing site for Pearson VUE, the Tutoring and Testing Center staff had to train and pass testing requirements and review and make preparations to the facility,” said Hubbard. “The process, which began last summer, was intensive and involved answering a lot of questions, sharing photos of the testing areas in order to meet standard specs, and installing new software on several computers.”
The Tutoring and Testing Center is located in the Learning Commons, in the E. J. Shaheen Library. The Center is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. For more information, please contact a Tutoring and Testing Center staff technician at (269) 294-4270.
