Student Natahlee Hughey, Advisors Benjamin Fries and Sarah Henry, and the Chapter Receive Top Honors at PTK Catalyst 2025

The Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) chapter at Glen Oaks Community College continues to make its mark nationally, earning four distinguished awards at PTK Catalyst 2025, the honor society’s annual convention held April 3-5 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Adding to an already impressive year of accolades, Glen Oaks student Natahlee Hughey has been selected as a recipient of the 2025 Distinguished Chapter Member Award for her outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and contributions to PTK. She will be honored on stage on April 5 at the Kansas City Convention Center.

Additionally, PTK Advisors Benjamin Fries and Sarah Henry have been awarded the 2025 Distinguished Chapter Advisor Team Award, recognizing their exceptional leadership and dedication to student success. They will be honored during the event’s Advisor Breakfast.

These new honors follow a series of achievements for Glen Oaks’ PTK chapter. Earlier this year, the chapter earned 5-Star Chapter Status for 2024, the highest recognition for academic excellence, leadership, and service, and was named a Reach Chapter for excelling in membership development

Further, Anne Springsteen, Director of TRIO Student Support Services, was recognized as a Distinguished College Administrator, an award honoring college leaders who provide outstanding support for PTK. She will also be honored at PTK Catalyst

Adding to the chapter’s legacy of excellence, Sarah Henry, Director of Admissions, was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Alumni Hall of Honor, an award given to distinguished alumni who continue to make significant contributions to PTK at the local, regional, or international level. Henry, who serves as Michigan’s Associate Regional Coordinator and recently completed a term as Vice President of Division 3 for PTK’s Alumni Advisory Board, was honored during PTK Catalyst’s Opening Ceremony and Alumni Banquet

“These recognitions reflect the dedication of our students, advisors, and college leaders who make Phi Theta Kappa at Glen Oaks such a strong and thriving chapter,” said Tonya Howden, Vice President of Student Services. “Natahlee, Ben, Sarah, and Anne have demonstrated exceptional leadership, and their achievements are a source of pride for our college community.

With these latest awards, Glen Oaks’ PTK chapter continues to build its reputation as a leader in student engagement and academic excellence.
