Glen Oaks expands transfer pathways through new agreements with Western Michigan University

Glen Oaks Community College has expanded transfer opportunities for students. Recently, the college signed new articulation agreements with Western Michigan University.

Because of these Glen Oaks Western Michigan University transfer agreements, students now have clearer paths to a bachelor’s degree. As a result, they can continue their education with greater confidence.

In addition, these agreements help students save both time and money.

New transfer programs available

Under these agreements, students can transfer into several Western Michigan University programs. Specifically, the pathways support degrees in science, health care and education.

The participating programs include:

College of Arts & Sciences

  • Biochemistry
  • Biological Sciences (Biology and Biomedical Science)
  • Chemistry
  • Psychology

College of Health & Human Services

  • Health Administration
  • RN to BSN
  • Social Work

College of Education and Human Development

  • Industrial Technology Education

Because Glen Oaks faculty worked closely with WMU faculty, the coursework now aligns between institutions. Therefore, many credits transfer directly into the bachelor’s programs.

Supporting student success

According to college leaders, the agreements strengthen Glen Oaks’ focus on student success.

“These articulation agreements reflect our intentional focus on creating clear, accessible pathways for our students to continue their education,” said Dr. Adam L. Cloutier, vice president of academics at Glen Oaks Community College. “By aligning our programs with those at Western Michigan University, we ensure students can transfer seamlessly, stay on track to graduate and pursue meaningful careers.”

Strengthening regional partnerships

At the same time, the agreements strengthen collaboration between the two institutions. In turn, this partnership helps address workforce needs across the region.

“This agreement with Western Michigan University exemplifies our strategic commitment to expanding student access and success,” said Dr. Bryan Newton, president of Glen Oaks Community College. “By strengthening transfer pathways in high-demand fields, we support our students’ academic goals while advancing our mission to meet the evolving educational needs of our region.”

Finally, students who want to learn more should contact the Glen Oaks advising office. Advisors can help them plan their transfer pathway.
