“The Open House sessions allow one to experience the convenience of online learning through Glen Oaks,” says Dr. Patricia Morgenstern, associate dean of extended learning and workforce development. “Included is a short survey so people can learn if online classes are a good fit for them. Participants will be able to sample a weekly distance learning assignment and learn how most Glen Oaks online classes transfer to other two- and four-year colleges and universities.”
An online chat room will also be available to visitors who wish to speak with a college representative during the Open House.
Glen Oaks Community College has long been a leader in distance learning classes, offering dozens of online courses as well as being a founding member in the Michigan Community College Virtual Learning Collaborative (MCCVLC) program. The MCCVLC opens more college classes through other Michigan colleges with Glen Oaks as the college of record.
“With winter weather upon us, we felt it was important to remind people interested in online college classes that they don’t have to get out on snow and ice covered roads to receive quality instruction.” says Morgenstern. “They can register online as a guest student for the Open House. After reviewing the information and taking a test drive at one of the sessions, we encourage those interested to enroll before Glen Oaks online winter semester classes are full. Returning students may go online at any time to enroll in distance learning classes. New students should contact the Admissions office at (269) 467.9945 or toll-free at (888) 994.7818 to apply to the college and schedule a meeting with an adviser prior to course registration.”
