Congratulations to Sophia Ryan. Ryan is a sophomore at Glen Oaks and Michigan State University Institute of Agricultural Technology majoring in Agricultural Operations. In December, she competed in the Michigan Farm Bureau Collegiate Young Farmers Discussion Meet. To compete, she video-taped a 10-minute response to an agricultural related question. She was selected as a top 4 finalist in the state. She then competed in a virtual discussion representing Glen Oaks and Michigan State University and was named the winner of that competition.
In March, Ryan will compete in the National Farm Bureau Federation’s Collegiate Young Farmers Discussion Meet representing the state of Michigan.
Ryan is a graduate of Sturgis High School. She is currently the president of the Collegiate Farm Bureau at Glen Oaks Community College and is involved in the Sigma Alpha-Gamma Sorority at MSU. After completing her degree at Glen Oaks, she plans to transfer to MSU where she will continue her education in animal embryonic and genetic studies and veterinary medicine.
