Members of the Medical Assistant Education Advisory Committee at Glen Oaks Community College met March 6th to thank Dr. Wilson Sawa, OB/GYN at Michiana Women’s Center, Sturgis Hospital with an Honorarium for his assistance to the GOCC organization. Dr. Sawa ate lunch with the committee and accepted the Honorarium before rushing back to Sturgis Hospital to deliver twins. The award to Dr. Sawa was a thank you from the college for his continued advice and direction for the college’s Medical Assistant education program. The advisory committee meeting included updates from Brenda Luczek about continuing opportunities for Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) in both the clinical and administrative areas. She said the Allied Health Club has been active this school year, including fundraising activities and gifts for families in need before Christmas. “It was wonderful to see our students step away from their studies and busy schedule to help others. That is what we, as a profession, are all about and it was just wonderful to see,” said Luczek.
