Kristy’s Kids Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser set for this Fri., August 23; Scholarship recipients announced

The Kristy’s Kids Memorial Scholarship program has been assisting Early Childhood Education
students at Glen Oaks Community College through scholarships amounting to $40,970 since its inception in 2002.

The public is invited to support the fundraiser through the Kristy’s Kids Nelson’s Chicken Dinner on Fri., August 23, from
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sturgis Plaza, 901 S. Centerville, Rd., Sturgis, Mich. The public is invited to help support the Glen
Oaks Community College Kristy’s Kids Scholarship Fund, honoring the memory of Kristy Isaac.

Five Glen Oaks students have been selected as 2013-14 Kristy’s Kids scholarship recipients. They are:

  • Brianna Burrus of Three Rivers, Mich.
  • Megan Delp of White Pigeon, Mich.
  • Rene Hoffman of Constantine, Mich.
  • Sherese Miller of Sturgis, Mich.
  • Ashley Stevens of Sturgis, Mich.

Kristy Isaac was a freshman enrolled in the Early Childhood Education associate degree program at Glen Oaks, when she
died in January, 2000, as a result of an automobile accident. Toby Isaac and her family established the scholarship
program because her daughter, Kristy, a Sturgis High School graduate, loved children and planned a career working with
pre-school age children. “This helps fulfill Kristy’s dream of helping children and their families,” said Isaac at the time.
