Dr. Patricia Morgenstern, Associate Dean of Extended Learning and Workforce Development, said, “The Open House sessions will allow students from anywhere to discover the convenience of online learning through Glen Oaks. Included is a short survey so people can learn if online classes are right for them and even a sample distance learning class. Visitors to the Open House will learn how most Glen Oaks online classes transfer to other two and four-year colleges and universities.”
An online chat room will also be available to visitors who wish to speak with a college representative during the Open House. All visitors will also be entered in a drawing for a chance to win one of four $25 VISA gift cards.
Glen Oaks Community College has long been a leader in distance learning classes, offering dozens of online courses as well as being a founding member in the Michigan Community College Virtual Learning Collaborative (MCCVLC) program. The MCCVLC opens more college classes through other Michigan colleges with Glen Oaks as the college of record. Glen Oaks representatives can assist students who qualify with registration and transferability of the online classes. Returning Glen Oaks Community College students may go online at anytime to enroll in Distance Learning classes.
“With winter weather upon us, we felt it was important to remind people interesting in online college classes that they don’t have to get out on snow and ice covered roads to receive quality instruction. They can register online as a guest student. After reviewing the information and taking a test drive at one of the Open House sessions, we encourage people to enroll before Glen Oaks online winter semester classes are full,” said Dr. Morgenstern.
