Physiology and treatment of pain is focus of nursing conference

Mike Pulford, CRNA, Kalamazoo Anesthesiology, P.C., who works at Three Rivers Health, will be the featured speaker at the 2012 Friends and Alumni of Nursing (FAN) Conference, scheduled for Sat., October 13 at the Dresser Business Development Auditorium on the campus of Glen Oaks Community College.

The conference titled “A World of Pain” will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and is expected to draw nurses, nursing students, health care employees and interested members of the community to this annual event.

Nurses participating in the conference can earn 4.0 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), and all participants will receive Continuing Education credits and a certificate of attendance. The State of Michigan Nursing CEU requirements for pain will be met through the pain presentations.

Proceeds from the conference support six nursing scholarships. Recipients of the 2012 “Excellence in Nursing” Award, and the 2012 NCLEX Nursing Award will be honored at the event.
