St. Joseph County Job Fair – Tues., April 16, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.; over 50 area employers will be represented

Tuesday, April 16, marks the date of the annual St. Joseph County Job Fair. Over 50 area employers are participating in what is the largest job fair in St. Joseph County to be held at Ken Schuler Court on the campus of Glen Oaks Community College. The event will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Those seeking jobs will have the opportunity to meet employer representatives to learn about and apply for positions that are currently open.

“Over 50 employers are registered for the event,” said Paul Aivars, director of business outreach and services for Glen Oaks Community College.  “Businesses participating in the Job Fair either have current openings or anticipate openings. Employers may be planning on filling one position or multiple positions which may be full-time or part-time, and they could be permanent, temporary and/or seasonal.”

“This is a great opportunity for job seekers to connect with employers,” said Fred Harvey, manager, Michigan Works Southwest! “We know that a lot of people are at work during the typical work day, but may be interested in pursuing a different position/employer so we are now holding the event in the afternoon to accommodate those who may be available to attend later in the day.”

Participants needing a ride to the event can contact the St. Joseph County Transit Authority 48 hours in advance at (269) 273-7808 and receive free bus transportation.

The event is held each spring and affords employers the opportunity to meet qualified, talented and diverse applicants.” A list of participating employers for the job fair can be found at: glenoaks.edu, under the Business and Industry/Job Fair tabs.
