Volleyball is returning to Glen Oaks in the fall; Crofchick is selected as head coach, Tryouts to begin Saturday, Feb. 6

Glen Oaks Community College is adding women’s
volleyball to its list of competitive sports where the team will compete
as part of the Michigan Community College Athletic Association.

The first session of open volleyball tryouts will be held in the Glen
Oaks Gymnasium on Saturday, Feb. 6, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Ben Crofchick, of Quincy, Michigan, was recently selected as the
volleyball coach and has been actively recruiting students for the
program. He will conduct tryouts and will be available to answer any
questions about the volleyball program.

“I’m very excited to bring volleyball back to Glen Oaks,” said Courtney Ivan, athletic director at
the college. “Volleyball has grown rapidly in our area with club teams and high schools both
showing great success. We want to give the chance for all of our local talent to perform close to
home and to make Glen Oaks a more competitive option than some of our neighboring
community colleges.”

Crofchick, who has a chiropractic practice in Quincy, Michigan, played varsity volleyball during
his high school years in Pennsylvania and continued on with the sport during his service in the
U.S. Navy. He has coached volleyball for the last 25 years, both at the varsity and club levels in
Florida and Michigan. In addition, he has run a number of volleyball camps and clinics.

Crofchick is a 1998 graduate from Life University in Marietta, Georgia, who has had his own
practice for seven years in Colon, Michigan before opening up this practice in Quincy.
