Centreville, MI – A Glen Oaks Community College student, Jalisa Pope, has won a logo design contest to rebrand the St. Joseph County Adult Education program as it transitions into a consortium. The announcement was made following a competitive week-long challenge with contributions from numerous talented graphic design students.

Jalisa Pope, a junior from Three Rivers, captured the essence of the adult education program’s mission with her innovative design incorporating a compass, symbolizing guidance and direction for adult learners. Her logo was selected for its creative embodiment of the program’s goals and will be prominently featured on the St. Joseph County Adult Education website and marketing materials.

The contest was initiated by MiChelle DeVries, Sturgis Site Administrator/St. Joseph County Navigator, who sought the expertise of Ciera Kline, graphic design faculty at Glen Oaks Community College, and her students. They were tasked with creating a brand identity that would resonate across the newly forming consortium, reflecting its inclusive and diverse nature.

“It was very important to me to offer the opportunity to partner with Glen Oaks Community College and their CTE (Career and Technical Education) program as a way to highlight the incredible talent we’ve got right here in our district,” stated DeVries. “All of the designs submitted were amazing; picking just one was tough! But in the end, Jalisa’s design was exactly what we were looking for.”

DeVries and her team praised Pope’s design for perfectly aligning with their vision, emphasizing the potential for extensive branding opportunities based on her work. Pope’s achievement highlights the collaboration between St. Joseph County Adult Education and Glen Oaks Community College, showcasing the practical application of student talent in real-world projects.

For her efforts, Pope received a t-shirt featuring her design and a $100 gift card. The design is currently in use on the St. Joseph County Adult Education website.
